Introducing "Dark Matter" by Christie Rich

Earlier this week, I introduced a fellow author, Christie Rich, and her debut novel, Five.

As with everyone else who loved Five, I quickly devoured its sequel, Dark Matter. To make a long story short, I believe it is even better than its predecessor! Find out more below:

Dark Matter:

Rayla Tate’s dreams for the future shattered when she discovered she was an Elemental capable of manipulating matter. Thrust, once again, into the magical fae realm of Faeresia, she has an important choice to make. But now that she has Heath to contend with, deciding between Zach and Luke is the least of her concerns. Tall, dark and lethal to her will, her attraction to Heath eclipses all she has experienced with any other lord, but he is using compulsion to wear her down. If only she could trust her feelings?

In a desperate attempt to escape Heath, she accepts the help of a little troll and finally gets what she wants; however, her relief is short lived. Things go terribly wrong when a dark force closes in on her, threatening to steal her burgeoning power before she even has a chance to test her abilities. Now, with Rayla as their captive, the Order will stop at nothing to create a male Elemental, and willing or not, Rayla is the key.

Caught up in the age-old battle for dominance between human and fae, only one question matters to her now—will she be able to save those she loves most without losing herself in the process? Or will she be forever haunted by the choices she alone can make?

Christie Rich:

I live in a small town with my husband, two kids, a spastic dog, and two lazy cats. I love delving into fantasy. Whether it is reading a book, watching a great movie, or recently, writing something I absolutely love.

I have been focusing on the paranormal, and my first published novel, Five, is a paranormal romance. It is the first book in the Elemental Enmity Trilogy and is about a girl that discovers her role in an age old battle for world dominace between the fae and humans. I am working diligently on the second book in the series and hope to release it this fall.

One thing I have discovered about myself through this exciting journey of publishing is that I love to see a world I've created come to life. The experience of writing is much more enjoyable than reading for me and that is saying a lot. LOL.

I hope you enjoy my books as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will again.

My Five-Star Review of Dark Matter:

This follow-up to "Five" has more twists and turns than a roller coaster and really delivers the goods! While the first half of the novel still had too many "gorgeous guy" passages for my liking--alas, I'm still not the target audience here (see the confession in my review for the aforementioned "Five")--the midway point saw the book suddenly rocket down a path that was unexpected, thrilling, and altogether enthralling! It was almost as if Rich grew tired of fun and games, ripped the kid gloves off, and decided to unleash something dark and dangerous upon the reader. And it works; it ups the ante by many notches and will dare fainthearted readers to find the courage to continue.

YA and fantasy fans should definitely check this series out!.

Dark Matter is the second book in "The Elemental Enmity" series. See my review of book one, Five, here. The third book, Genesis, will be released at the end of this month!
