Back in early December, I told you about the “One Man Star Wars Trilogy.” Well, I had the opportunity to see Charles Ross work some Middle Earth-style magic in his “One Man Lord of the Rings” at the State Theater in New Brunswick, NJ last weekend.
Once again, Charles was amazing. His seventy-minute performance was as much a masterpiece in its own right as Tolkien’s original tale is. This man is to one-man comedy theater what “Weird Al” Yankovic is to comedy music—a best-in-class genius.
Please note: this performance is based upon the movie adaptations (as it should be), so purists beware. However, the show couldn’t have come at a better time for this LOTR fan: the Blu-Ray Extended Editions were released more than six months ago, and the first installment of “The Hobbit” is eleven months away. Watching Ross portray Denethor is worth the price of a ticket alone!
If you have the opportunity to see the “One Man Lord of the Rings,” I urge you to do so. For my fellow New Yorkers, Charles will be at the Midtown Theater next weekend.
I wonder if there’s a “One Man Harry Potter” in Charlie’s future?
